How much a driving licence costs in Kosovo

Updated: October 2026

A licence does not have one single price. It is made of several payments, and the largest part is set by the driving school. Here they all are, with the amounts that are official.

The driving school

The largest part of the cost. Each school sets its own price, and it varies by city and category. Ask at least two or three schools what the price includes: theory hours, the 20 practical hours, the car for the exam and whether the first exam is included.

Medical certificate

Paid at the health institution that issues it. You need one again when you renew the licence later.

First aid course

Usually at the Red Cross, paid separately. Ask whether your driving school arranges it.

Exam fees

The theory and practical exams are paid separately at the Ministry of Infrastructure rates. The rates have changed over the years, so ask the school for today’s exact amounts. If you retake an exam, you pay again.

Extra lessons

If you need more than the required hours, the school charges them separately.

Issuing the licence: €15

This is the only fixed amount: €15 for the regular procedure, and €50 more for the urgent procedure (MIA). An international licence also costs €15.

How to save

The cost easiest to avoid is retaking the exam. Practise the theory until you pass the tests comfortably, and ask the school whether a retake is discounted.

Frequently asked questions
